NEW YORK: Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed met US Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asian Affairs Nisha Desai Biswal in New York on Wednesday afternoon.
Confirming the matter, diplomatic sources said that they discussed on Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) facility and overall political situations in the close door meeting around 3:00pm (US local time).
It was scheduled to review the restoration of GSP facilities in the first end of June.
On June 27 last, the US authorities suspended the GSP facility for Bangladesh and set 16 conditions to get it back.
Earlier in the day, the Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed held another close door meeting with US trade representative and principal advisor of President Obama, Michael Froman around 12:30pm.
