DHAKA: A freshly constituted committee of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Dhaka metropolitan unit will be declared next week to propel the anti-government movement.

Sources said that BNP standing committee member Mirza Abbas as the conveyer and Swechchhasebak Dal President Habib-un-Nabi Khan Sohel as the member secretary are going to lead the committee.

The new 21-member convening committee is to arrange council following forming of unit, ward and thana committees, sources added.

BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed told banglanews that all organizational work, in this regard, has been completed.

“Now it just requires the party chairperson Khaleda Zia’s approval,” he said.

However, party insiders said that BNP Standing Committee member ASM Hannan Shah, Barrister Rafiqul Islam Miah, Goyeshwar Chnadra Roy, BNP Chairperson's advisor Abdul Awal Mintoo, joint secretaries general Amanullah Aman, Barkatullah Bulu, BNP international affairs secretary Asaduzzaman Ripon, social affairs secretary Abul Khayer Bhuiyan and Juba Dal President Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal are going to be included in the new committee.

The earlier city BNP committee was formed on May 14, 2011 with Sadeque Hossain Khoka as its convener and Abdus Salam as member secretary.

That committee was asked to form the ward and thana committees within six months but they failed.
