DHAKA: At least 15 people were injured, seven by bullets, in a clash between activists of Awami League and Jatiya Party in Bhangura of the district early Thursday.
Locals and police sources said that there was a longstanding dispute between acting president of Upazila Awami League Lokman Hossain and president of municipality Jatiya Party Abdul Wahed over possessing railway land.
On early Thursday, supporters of Abdul Wahed went to grab the land putting fence and on information, supporters of Lokman Hossain rushed to spot and obstructed them.
The situation triggered fierce clash, leaving 15 people injured and seven of them received bullet injuries.
Of the injured, seven were rushed to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
Confirming the matter to banglanews, Officer-in-Charge of Bhangura Thana Subroto Kumar said, “A case was filed in this regard and police held Abdul Wahed and his son.”
