DHAKA: Opposition BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Thursday categorically said the upcoming parliament elections would not be allowed to be held under the incumbent government and election commission.
The spokesperson for the party termed that “election commission is a stupid commission” and it is “servant of the government.
Mirza Fakhrul came up with the assertion while addressing a discussion at Engineers Institution in the afternoon.
Ziaur Rahman Foundation organized the programme on ‘Future Bangladesh and Grassroots’ Thought.’
The senior leader of the party also said, “The constitution is not a Holy Koran or Bible that it will not be changed.”
He added: “Constitution is for country’s people and the caretaker government must be restored by changing the amending the constitution.”
Regarding senior vice-chairman of the party Tarique Rahman, he said, “Tarique is not a normal leader, he is dream leader of the people of the country.”
Fakhrul also claimed that the government fears BNP. So, it does not want to restore the caretaker government system, he said.
