Youths restored democracy: Joy

DHAKA: Sajeeb Wazed Joy, son of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, said that the young generation have risen and reestablished democracy in the country.

He also said that the anti-liberation power did not succeed to blot out the spirit of liberation.

He came up with these assertions in a seminar titled ‘Vision 2021: Goals and Achievements’ arranged by Suchinta Foundation at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre on Friday afternoon.

Sajeeb Wazed Joy said, “Due to the failure of a political party, an undemocratic power seized the power of the country in 2007, but the young generation rose then and reestablished democracy in the country.”

He alleged that unfortunately a political party is trying to destroy that democracy, although we achieved democracy after a 16-year-long struggle.

Grand son of Bangabandhu also said that in this tenure Awami League government performed developmental works which is the highest in amount than any of the government after 1975.

In his speech, he also alleged that BNP has rehabilitated Jamaat-e-Islami in the politics of Bangladesh.

Cricketer Shakib Al Hasan, economist Abul Barakat and singer MAksudul Haque were also on the stage.

People from all walks of life including journalists, professionals, intelligentsia and students of various universities joined the seminar.
