DHAKA: Mohammad Siddikur of Bangladesh shot a bogey-free 6-under 66 on Thursday to share the lead with five others after the first round of the Indian Open Golf.
Siddikur, who won the Brunei Open in 2010 for his only Asian Tour title, was tied with the Thai pair of Pariya Junhasavasdikul and Chapchai Nirat, India’s Rahil Gangjee, Singapore’s Mardan Mamat and Carlos Pigem of Spain.
India’s Shankar Das was a stroke behind the leading group, while Jay Bayron of the Philippines, Shamim Khan of India and Unho Park of Australia were all tied on 68.
PGA Tour winner Michael Thompson of the United States, British player Robert Rock and South African Jbe Kruger are among the main foreign names in the field alongside local challengers Arjun Atwal, Shiv Kapur, Jyoti Randhawa and Anirban Lahiri.
