An avalanche of German goals put paid to Brazil HEXA dream. Germans annihilated Brazil at Bela Horizonte .The hosts were badly bruised, battered, humiliated, overwhelmed and outclassed by the resurgent Germans. Five Goals they scored in the action packed first half with four goals coming in a Tsunami of 6 minutes from 23 rd to 29 th minute.
It was awful defending allowing goal hungry Germans entering their territory almost unopposed at their free sweet will. Thomas Mueller opened the account; Miroslav Klose scored the next two. His first created the much expected all time highest goal scorers record in the world cup .Tony Kroos and Sami Khedira scored one each during that 6 mintes blitz sinking the Brazilian Yacht . It was almost completely one way traffic in the first half for the Germans. Brazil looked down and out.
The Brazilian defence was completely in tatters. Brazil tried to salvage some pride in the second half through reducing the margin but failed to get any. Instead Germany added two more good looking goals through Schurrle making it 7-0. Finally in the 90 th minute Brazil could get one back through Oscar 7-1. A ruthless German team punished a pathetic Brazil team. Germany will wait for the winner tomorrow for its battle for fourth world cup title. Brazil will be playing for third fourth place play off.
Germany was as ruthless as Hitlers Nazi force in bull dodging and demolishing opponents in the two World Wars.
The first semifinal of 2014 world cup between two of the pretournament favorites host Brazil and European football power house was expected to be classic contest. But instead it was a total rampage of Germany roaring into finals crushing the hosts to one of their largest defeats in world cup history. These two teams put together have of eight of 19 previous world cup titles.
Although the Brazil hold a 12-5-4 edge in all-time matches against their adversaries, had their work cut out to please the home crowd and advance to the final. Enigmatic young prodigy Neymar was out for the rest of the World Cup with a back injury, while defensive anchor Thiago Silva is suspended for the Germany match.
Confronting with a well-rounded German side without their premier attacking threat and Silva was a tough challenge for Brazil to overcome. Germany has won their past three fixtures by just one goal apiece, so they also had a flair for the dramatic. Germany worked wonderfully well to blast Brazil out of the tournament.
First Half:
Germany had a plan and they executed it with clinical perfection. Immediately after the kick off Brazil started storming the German defence with quick moves trying the rattle the German defence. It's all Brazil in the early stages as they win a corner which Germany cleared before Marcelo struck wide of the target from 25 yards out.
In the very next minute a fantastic ball from David Luiz! The defender pinged a lovely long pass for Hulk on the left byline, but the forward's cut-back for Fred inside the box was pounced upon by Manuel Neuer. Brazil should have known by then that the German keeper liked a good ramble to come off his line.
After absorbing early pressure Germany started turning up - in fact it's Low's side doing Brazil's defending as Sami Khedira's snap shot inside the box was blocked by Toni Kroos.
To the shock and awe of home fans Mueller put Germany ahead off a Kroos corner on 11th minute of the match. Brazil behind (0-1) . It was poor defending leaving the goal hunter Mueller unmarked during the Kroos corner allowing him to beat helpless Cesar from a close range. It has been a pulsating start to this semi-final, with defences all over the place - so it's no surprise that shocking defending leads to the first goal.
David Luiz could be blamed for losing Thomas Muller, but the initial mistake came from Marcelo’s disastrous touch in the Germany half. He scampered back to concede the corner, but he was asking for trouble with his mistake.'
23 rd minutes of the match a new World Cup record! - a big one too!A neat one-touch move was too hot to handle for Brazil's defence, as Miroslav Klose sees a shot saved by Julio Cesar inside the box, before tapping home the rebound to score his 16th World Cup of all-time - more than any other player!( 2-0). A minute later Klose again made in 3-0 for Germany.
Brazil started falling apart Lahm's low pass across the 18-yard box evaded Muller, but not Toni Kroos blasted home a first-time strike into the bottom corner and it became 4-0. The resolve of the team appeared to be completely broken. By the 29 th minute it became unacceptable from Brazil. They had totally capitulated and their fans were in tears now as Mesut Ozil strolled through the centre before laying the ball back for Sami Khedira to tuck into the bottom corner 5-0.In a matter of 6 minutes from 23 rd – 29 th minute title aspirant digested as many as four goals. It was an avalanche.
It was a day light German murder of Brazil’s HEXA dream. Further humiliation was avoided in the 32minute it could be the sixth. Yet another cut-back found Kroos on the edge of the box, whose strike hit the raised arm of Fernandinho before deflecting just wide for a corner. Conceded five goals for only the second time in the World Cup; the first was in 1938 v Poland. Nightmare.
It was unbelievably shocking defending from Brazil. A shocking first half with Germany leading 5-0. It appeared all done and dusted for Brazil.
Second Half :
Shell shocked Brazil looked desperate to salvage some pride reducing the margin. But their faint moves could not find any hole in German defence. As it happened in the first half German roared back into action. They were ruthless and merciless in punishing Brazilians. Never before the world had Football seen such a miserable Brazil and that too on their own backyard.
On the 69 th Minute Germany scored the best best goal of the lot. So patient, so clinical from Germany. Khedira the creator played it into Lahm, who surged forward up the right. Skipper had the composure to pick out a man in the box and Schurrle had time to place the shot past the keeper 6-0. On the 77 th it was Schurrle again putting the last nail in the Brazilian coffin.
Surging run down the left cutting inside into the heart of Brazil defence Schurrle lashed it home with a magnificent finish making it 7-0. When the match was dying Brazil could get a consolation goal through Oscar 7-1. By that time it was too little too late .Nightmare of Brazil finally ended. Such a heavy punishment host and favorite Brazil will never forget. It was the worst day by far in Brazilian Soccer History. Germans were truly awesome. They were methodical in approach and clinical in finish. Germany looks geared up well for meeting the winner of Argentina Netherland match in the final at Maracana on 13 July 2014.
This writer being also a human being is a diehard Brazilian fan like Billions across the world. Every goal Germans scored also created heart score for me. But I have no hesitation in standing up and congratulate Germany on its magnificent victory. No one in their wildest of dream possibly could have imagined such a humiliation of all-time favorite Brazil on their own soil. Brazil just did not have any clue to resist the ruthless Germans.
Astonishing and agonizing for Brazil.. One would have to be a heartless sod not to feel sad and sorry for Brazil. The huge pressure, the expectancy, all the nation's mania and hysteria heaped on the shoulders of a passionate and decent but ultimately limited football team. They cracked under the strain, no doubt.
It felt before the game that defeat would be a disaster for the players and people of Brazil. But this was not just a defeat. No one has seen such a disaster such a catastrophe in Brazil’s world cup history before.
Germany made a very loud and clear statement of its intention for its opponent in the final. Congratulation Miroslav Klose for the enviable record .congratulation my German Friends for a wonderful victory .
