DHAKA: Mohammad Ashraful is set to appeal the eight-year ban which was awarded him by the BPL anti-corruption tribunal for his involvement in match and spot-fixing in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
Earlier on June 18, a special tribunal banned Ashraful for eight years and fined Tk 10 lac for his involvement in the match fixing.
The tribunal also said last three years of punishment would be reduced if Ashraful participates in education and rehabilitation program of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), International Cricket Council (ICC) or Asian Cricket Council (ACC).
Earlier on Tuesday, Ashraful met the new Bangladesh coach Chandika Hathurusingha with whom he exchanged greetings. At one stage, Ashraful asked if Hathurusingha could arrange training facilities for him.
Chandika advised Ashraful to send a letter to BCB requesting them for training.
