DHAKA: Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Nazmul Hassan Papon on Tuesday said the decision on the appeal of cricket all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan may be considered after Eid vacation.
The BCB president made the disclosure while talking to media during a reception arranged by BCB in honor of its new ICC president AHM Mustafa Kamal MP at a city hotel.
Nazmul Hassan Papon said, “Shakib was suspended by a decision taken in the board meeting, so it would be justified to consider his appeal through another board meeting.”
He added: “I have the authority to consider his pleas and ratify it in the next board meeting after Eid.”
Papon, also ruling Awami League lawmaker, said, “Shakib pleaded through a well-composed letter. We found nothing negative in him and his recent behavior impressed me. I think he could have understood the mistakes. So, we will consider his appeal positively.”
Earlier, BCB suspended all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan for 6-month from all national and international cricket for breaching its code of conduct.
The BCB also decided not to allow ‘No Objection Certificate (NOC)’ to play any league match till December 31, 2015.
