DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Friday saw the original ICC World Cup Trophy, which is now in Bangladesh as part of its world tour programme to 12 countries.
Sources told banglanews that the PM behold the trophy at that time after the International Cricket Council (ICC) and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) officials brought it to the PM’s official residence Gonobhaban in the morning.
At that time she also blessed the national cricket team members and expressed her hope for their better performance in the upcoming matches, sources added.
BCB president Nazmul Hasan Papan and former Bangladesh cricket team captain Naimur Rahman Durjoy were present at that time.
However, the cricket world cup trophy will be available for all at one of the largest shopping malls Bashundhara City Complex of the city from 12:00pm to 8:00pm Friday.
The visitors would take photos with the trophy besides eyeing.
Moreover, three cricketers of the country Shamsur Rahman, Marshal Aiyub and Taskin Ahmed also will be there at Bashundhara City to great the mass people.
Earlier in the day, Bangladesh Cricket Team Captain Mushfiqur Rahim and acting chief executive of the board Nizamuddin Chowdhury introduced the trophy to the media.
The trophy was brought to Dhaka from Sri Lanka on Thursday afternoon as it passes through countries that will participate in the tournament to be staged in Australia and New Zealand from February 14, 2015.
