DHAKA: Bangladesh all rounder Shakib Al Hasan took the Rice Bucket Challenge on Tuesday and nominated his all facebook friends to dare it.
However, Shakib also posted a photo of the challenge around 9:30pm on his own facebook page and thanked the man who nominated him.
Earlier, Arif R Hossain, co-founder of Aamrai Bangladesh, a socio-cultural community, challenged the all rounder with other nine persons to help a poor with a bucket (or packet) of rice each.
From then on, the challenge, is going viral on social media, involves donating a bucket of rice to someone in need and clicking a picture to share online, with a tag #RiceBucketChallenge, to raise awareness.
It is said that the challenge was started by a 38-year-old Indian journalist, Manju Latha Kalanidhi, in the southern city of Hyderabad.
However, the famous "ice bucket" challenge inspired these people to follow suit, but with a twist - replacing ice with rice in a bid to help the country's vast population of poor, hungry people.
Nevertheless, Shakib Al Hasan, about the ‘Rice Bucket Challenge’, said that it’s a good idea to help the unfortunate families who are living in poverty.
“I accepted the challenge and I nominee all my facebook friends and fans hopefully you guys will accept my challenge,” he added.
