DHAKA: Bangladesh national football captain Mamunul Islam has signed a three-month contract with newly founded Kolkata based Atletico de Kolkata to play in the Indian Super League.
The inaugural edition of the Indian Super League is scheduled to kick off on October 12 and December 20 is a tentative date for the final.
The deal signing ceremony was held at Uttara Club in city where Sheikh Jamal president Manjur Kader attended the program.
Central midfielder Mamunul impressed during Bangladesh club Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi’s run to the IFA Shield final earlier this year and the 25-year-old also played a key role in his country’s 2-2 draw with India in Goa back in March.
Mamunul will become the fourth foreigner to sign for Atletico de Kolkata, which is partly owned by former Indian cricket star Sourav Ganguly.
Atletico de Kolkata, the biggest-spending of the eight franchises, has announced former Spanish international Luis Garcia as their key player.
