DHAKA: Taijul Islam was awarded with the ‘Walton Smart Player of the Match’ in first Test of a two match series between Bangladesh and West Indies at Arnos Vale Ground, Kingstown, St Vincent on Tuesday.
The slow left-arm orthodox spinner took five wickets for 135 runs in the first innings, a press release said on Wednesday.
He was given a Smartphone and 300 US dollars by the co-sponsor of the series Walton, the leading electrical, electronics, automobile, telecommunications and home appliances company in Bangladesh, release added.
However, the Tigers lost the match by 10 wickets though Bangladesh skipper Mushfiqur Rahim smashed his third Test century in the second innings with two half centuries by Mahmudullah and Tamim Iqbal.
