DHAKA: Bangladeshi batsman Mahmudullah Riyad has been awarded with the ‘Walton Smart Player of the Match’ in second and final Test against West Indies on Tuesday at the Beausejour Cricket Ground in Gros Islet, St Lucia.
He has been given a Smartphone and 300 US dollars by the co-sponsor of the series Walton, the leading electrical, electronics, automobile, telecommunications and home appliances company in Bangladesh following the achievement, a press release said on Wednesday.
Mahmudullah Riyad, however, scored a fighting half-century and also brought up a 1000 Test runs for himself in the morning session of day 3.
While the middle-order batsman’s 53 did not take Bangladesh over the follow-on mark – the Tigers were short by 20 runs— but, he also collected three wickets.
