DHAKA: Actress Naznin Akter Happy filed a petition with the High Court (HC) on Sunday seeking cancellation bail to cricketer Rubel Hossain in a rape case.

Happy’s move came some three days after a Dhaka court granted appeal of Rubel, a member of Tigers’ squad for World Cup 2015, seeking exemption from appearing in person before the court in the case on January 14.

Supreme Court lawyer Dr Yunus Ali Akand, on behalf of the actress, filed the petition in the morning.

Film actress Happy filed the case with Mirpur Thana against Rubel on December 13, 2014 accusing of raping her.

Later, Rubel took four weeks anticipatory bail from High Court on December 15, 2014.

On January 8, a court sent Rubel to jail rejecting his bail plea in the case after he surrendered before the court.

Rubel is now out of jail since he was granted bail on January 11.

Later on January 14, court excused him from physical appearance in the case, granting him permission to play abroad.

Since then, Rubel has joined Bangladesh team’s world cup preparatory camp in Mirpur National Cricket Stadium.
