8th ULAB Fair Play Cup Begins

DHAKA: The 8th ULAB Fair Play Cup (Inter Private University Cricket Tournament) was inaugurated at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) Play Ground at Ramchandrapur of Mohammadpur in city on Thursday.

Faruque Ahmed, Chairman of Selection Committee, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) inaugurated the tournament as the Chief Guest.

Habibul Bashar, former captain of Bangladesh national cricket team and Member of Selection Committee, BCB, were also present as the special guest.

At the opening ceremony Kazi Inam Ahmed, ULAB Board of Trustee member and Director of Bangladesh Cricket Board, Professor Imran Rahman, Vice Chancellor of ULAB, Professor Dr Jahirul Haque and Roquibul Hassan, Former Captain of Bangladesh National Cricket Team and Advisor of ULAB Fair Play Cup also were present.

In the inaugural match, ULAB beat State University Bangladesh (SUB) by 3 wickets.

A total of 16 universities BRAC University, North South University, East West University, Northern University Bangladesh, United International University, State University of Bangladesh, Manarat International University, Independent University Bangladesh, University of Asia pacific, South East University, Eastern University, Green University of Bangladesh, Premier University of Chittagong, University of Information Technology and Sciences, European University of Bangladesh and host University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh are participating this year.

A total of 32 matches will be held in the tournament. The final will be held on February 11.

The champion team will get BDT 40,000 and runner up will get BDT 25,000 taka as prize money.
