DHAKA: Bangladesh are facing Afghanistan blowers in the teams’ first ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 Pool A match in Canberra on Wednesday morning.
Till filing of the report, tigers have scored 156 runs for four after the end of 36 overs.
Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim are at crease now with 21 and 27 runs respectively.
Anamul Haque and Tamim Iqbal opened the Bangladesh innings. But Afghanistan’s Mirwais Ashraf stuck first, sending Tamim to the pavilion when Bangladesh scoreboard was at 47 runs in 14.3 overs.
Tamim scored 19 runs off 42 balls.
Since then, Soumya Sarkar came to the crease and began accompanying Anamul Haque.
Mirwais stuck again, making Anamul Haque a victim of lbw (leg before wicket) when Tigers’ scoreboard 52 runs in 16.4 overs. Anamul contributed 29 runs off 55 balls.
Mahmudullah filled the blank, replacing Anamul.
Soumya Sarkar, who was also the victim of lbw, scored 28 run with three boundaries and one six. Shapoor Zadran bagged the wicket.
Bangladesh lost the 4th wicket as Mahmudullah (23) was caught by the wicket keeper. Shapoor picked up the wicket again.
Earlier, Tigers’ captain Mashrafe Mortaza won toss and decided to bat. The match kicked off at 9:30am at Manuka Oval stadium.
Bangladesh left out Nasir Hossain, Taijul Islam, Arafat Sunny and Al-Amin while Dawlat Zadran, Gulbadin Naib, Usman Ghani, Nasir Jamal are not playing for Afghanistan.
Tigers skipper Mashrafe Mortaza said; "Looks like a good track. We can put up a good total."
