DHAKA: Tigers set 268-run target for Afghanistan in their first ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 Pool A match in Canberra on Wednesday.
With fifties of all rounder Shakib Al Hasan and former captain Mushfiqur Rahim, Bangladesh scored 267 runs for all wickets in the stipulated 50-over.
Shakib Al Hasan scored 63 runs off 51 balls while Mushfiqur Rahim took 71 runs off 56 balls.
World’s best all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan entered the 4000-run club as the first Bangladeshi batsman in One Day Internationals With the 23rd run of his total 63 at the match.
Hamis Hassan, Aftab Alam, Mirwais Ashraf and Shapoor Zadran bagged two wickets each while Mohammad Nabi picked up one.
Mominul Haque, however, was the victim of run out.
Earlier, Tigers’ captain Mashrafe Mortaza won toss and decided to bat. The match kicked off at 9:30am (Bangladesh Time) at Manuka Oval stadium.
Bangladesh left out Nasir Hossain, Taijul Islam, Arafat Sunny and Al-Amin while Dawlat Zadran, Gulbadin Naib, Usman Ghani, Nasir Jamal are not playing for Afghanistan.
Tigers skipper Mashrafe Mortaza said; "Looks like a good track. We can put up a good total."
