NARAYANGANJ: Workers of a garment factory came under attack by a gang of hooligans at Nayabari in Kachpur Monday that left 15 labourers injured, police and workers said.
Following the incident, the garment workers vandalized their own factory- Ananta Denim Technology – to protest attack on them allegedly by the owner Shah Alam Khan, police said.
The workers alleged that the owner Shah Alam Khan let loose the armed gang on them.
“Some 25 outsider hooligans stormed into the factory and roughed up the workers leaving many injured including Shameem, Kabir, Jewel, Rakib, Ali and Monir,” said Arif, one of the injured workers.
However, Shishir, Quality Supervisor of the factory, said the workers disputed with the authority over day-off on Friday, June 24.
The workers made a 13-point demand including resignation of some senior officials.
