DHAKA: Mayor Sadek Hossain Khoka and 12 of Dhaka City Corporation officials are in fear of arrest in a graft case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
“The DCC mayor Wednesday had a two-hour meeting with his lawyers and some officials at his office in the afternoon. The officials did not come to the office fearing arrest, but they are keeping contact with their own people,” said a DCC source.
According to another source, those influential DCC officials are not coming to the office since the ACC filed a case against them with Shahbagh police station Tuesday.
The other accused DCC officials are former Executive Officer Saifuddin Ahmed, former Secretary Alamgir Hossain Khan, former Additional Chief Engineer Mehedi Hasan, former Chief Revenue Officer Shakhwat Hossain, former Chief Accounts Officer Nurun Nabi, former Assistant Secretary (currently working as DTO) Mujibur Rahman, former Assistant Secretary (currently working as Slum Development Officer) Asaduzzaman, tax officer (TO) of Zone-3 Hasanuzzaman, TO of Zone-7 Mizanur Rahman and TOs of market section Athar Ali Khan, Shami Faisal and Mohammad Saifullah.
Saifullah has been terminated earlier for submitting fake certificate.
The case was filed against the Mayor and the officials for giving appointment to 59 officials and employees in the DCC “unlawfully”.
