DHAKA: A fault, detected in the results of the Technical Education Board, has created confusion in the overall results of the HSC and its equivalent examinations 2010 out on Thursday.
As a result, the number GPA-5 scorers and the pass percentage of 10 boards showed puzzling figures.
As per the data provided by the Computer Centre of the Education Boards, the overall pass percentage was 74.28.
But, the Education Ministry said it was 74.31.
However, if the results of Vocational and Diploma-in-Commerce examinations are included, the pass percentage stands 74.07.
It also increases the number of GPA-5 students to 28683 from 28671.
A closer look into the results showed that the pass percentage in Business Management division of the Technical Education
Board is 82.48. But this figure excludes the Diploma-in-Commerce and Vocational division.
As a result, the exclusion of these two other branches under the technical Education Board affected the average pass
percentage and the number of GPA students in the comprehensive results.
Professor M Abul Kashem, Chairman of the Technical Education Board, told banglanews24.com.bd that Business Management
Division was included in the result sheet but not the Vocational and Diploma-in-Commerce. These were also equivalent to
the HSC but were not included, he said.
“As a result, this confusion has been created in the results,” he added.
He, however, would not blame anyone.
He said the pass percentage of the board was 79.57.
Some 56,101 in three divisions came out successfully out of total appeared 70,504 students.
All the students in 106 educational institutions came out successfully while no one passed from two institutions under the
Board.
