DHAKA: Anarchy is being instigated in different areas through foisting the Detailed Area Plan (DAP) trying to halt the trial proceedings against war criminals, alleged AKM Mozammel Haque MP, chairman of the parliamentary standing committee on land ministry.
“I requested Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to look into the matter,” said Mozammel while addressing a roundtable in the city Saturday.
Centre for Democracy Research organized the discussion titled ‘Detailed Area Plan and Modern Dhaka’ at the DRU auditorium.
The ruling-party lawmaker said although the Awami League-led grand alliance boasts 40 seats in the DAP area, encompassing the capital and its outskirts, the Plan was formulated without any discussion with the legislators.
“It’s nothing but a conspiracy,” he told his audience, days after leading mass protests in his Gazipur constituency.
Terming the comment of the RAJUK Chairman illogical and unfortunate, Mozammel dismissed the DAP as totally an “unrealistic plan”.
“Those who are involved in touting the plan are not willing to see the war criminals to be tried. So they are instigating people’s wrath in the name of DAP,” said the chief of the parliamentary oversights body on the country’s land affairs.
