CHANDPUR: Foreign Minister Dr. Dipu Moni Thursday alleged that anti-liberation forces have started hatching conspiracy anew to foil the war crimes trial and save the war criminals.

“The anti-liberation forces are trying to create instability in the country. Certain quarters are also trying to foil the trial process of war crimes and save the war criminals,” she said at a meeting at Haimchar.

Indicating the main opposition BNP, she said, “The opposition party is creating anarchy in the country in the name of politics.”

Dipu Moni also urged the country’s people to remain alert against any “anarchic situation”.

Earlier, Dr Dipu Moni formally inaugurated works for the TK 127.90 crore 6-km Meghna Riverbank Protection project.

She expressed the hope that the works are expected to be complete by the next dry season through transparency and accountability.

Presided over by Haimchar upazila unit AL president Motaleb Zamader, the meeting was also addressed, among others, by Deputy Commissioner Priyotosh Saha, Chief Engineer of the Water Development Board (North-East region) Nurul Alam and Executive Engineer Jibon Krishna Das.

At a function at the upazila council auditorium in the afternoon, the minister distributed necessary materials among the fisherman who refrained from catching jatka, for creating alternative employment.
