DHAKA: Detectives plan to interrogate banned Islamist outfit JMB chief Saidur Rahman and the three top Jamaat leaders face to face at the DB headquarters.
Detective Branch of police sources said the initiative is being taken to examine Jamaat’s ties with JMB.
One source of the interrogation cell, on condition of anonymity, told banglanews24.com, “We’re getting vital information from the arrested Jamaat leaders.”
Police interrogated Jamaat Secretary-General Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mojahid and Nayab-e Ameer Delwar Hossain Sayedee till early hours of Saturday in a case of allegedly obstructing police duties, sources said.
Another accused of the case, Jamaat Ameer Moulana Matiur Rahman Nizami, would be taken to the DB police headquarters Saturday from the central jail for quizzing, said DB officials.
On May 24, police arrested Saidur Rahman, his wife and three other leaders of the banned Islamist outfit in several raids in the capital and at Narayanganj.
During interrogation, Saidur reportedly confessed that the JMB was getting financial and other supports from some top leaders of Jamaat.
