The government today (July 18) said the internet connectivity will be reinstated as soon as the ongoing situation of the country gets well.
State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Junaid Ahmed Palak made this remark at inauguration ceremony of the course built under the 'Education Online' project of Information and Communication Technology Department at ICT Tower in capital’s Agargaon.
He said false information about the ongoing quota movement within and outside the country is being circulated on social media and is being largely promoted.
The state minister also said that mobile internet will be reinstated if the violent situation in the country improves.
Earlier, the internet connectivity on mobile networks nationwide has been halted without prior notice.
According to rights body activists, this unannounced internet shutdown is a violation of human rights in today's connected society.
The Association of Mobile Telecom Operators of Bangladesh (AMTOB), representing mobile network operators, declined to comment on the situation.
