DHAKA: In the wake of student unrest, authorities on Monday deferred the MA final examinations of 2007-08 sesssion for a month.

The decision was taken at an emergency meeting of the academic committee.

The students later unlocked the rooms of the department which were locked on Sunday by students.

One of the associate professor of the department said the examination would start on Agust 5.

Many of the students will appear for the 30th BCS examination on July 30 while Government Secondary Shchool Assistant Teacher recruitment examination is also underway.

The MA examinations conincided with the BCS and teachers recruitment examinations that irked the students to create trouble.
