Police's Detective Branch (DB) has arrested Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, a leader of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), from Dhaka’s Airport area.

He was arrested on Monday (Nov 25) afternoon in connection with a case filed against him for allegedly desecrating the national flag.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s (DMP) Additional Commissioner (DB) Rezaul Karim Mallik confirmed the matter to Banglanews.

He said, “Chinmoy Krishna Das has been taken into DB custody. A case was filed against him, and based on that, the spokesperson of the Sanatani Jagaran Jote was arrested. He is popularly known as Chinmoy Prabhu among the Hindu community.”

Chinmoy Krishna Das also serves as the spokesperson for the Bangladesh Sanatan Jagaran Mancha, which held a rally in Chattogram on October 25. 

Following the event, BNP leader Firoz Khan filed a sedition case against him, accusing him of disrespecting the national flag.
