Two Bangladeshi tourists lost all their belongings, including cash, mobile phones, and gold jewelry, during a train journey in India. 

The incident occurred on November 24 while they were traveling on the Kanchankanya Express.

According to sources from Siliguri Police, the tourists, Yana and her cousin, had arrived in India on November 23. The next day, they boarded the train from Sealdah to Siliguri, intending to visit Darjeeling and Sikkim.

During the journey, two strangers initiated a conversation with the tourists and befriended them. Near Malda station, the strangers told Yana and her cousin that they would be getting off soon and offered their seats for the tourists to sleep on. Before leaving, they served the tourists tea.

Yana and her cousin accepted the tea and went to sleep after keeping their belongings, including mobile phones and wallets, close to their heads.

The next morning, Yana found herself on a hospital bed with a saline drip in her hand. Later, she realized that her bag, containing ₹15,000, 5,000 Bangladeshi Taka, five Kuwaiti Dinars, and a 4-gram gold bracelet, was missing. Her cousin also lost ₹15,000, 7,000 Bangladeshi Taka, and his wallet with a visa card.

After recovering, the tourists filed a complaint with the Government Railway Police (GRP) in Siliguri Junction. However, Yana claimed that the GRP did not provide adequate assistance.

Reflecting on the incident, Yana said, "We never imagined such an experience during our trip to India."

Speaking about the incident on Wednesday (November 27), Siliguri Railway Police (SRP) officer Kunwar Bhushan Singh said, “Every station in India has warnings that travelers should not accept food from strangers. People must remain cautious.”

This incident has left the victims shaken and serves as a warning for travelers to be vigilant while traveling.
