Home Affairs Adviser Lt. Col (retd) Jahangir Alam said the government would not tolerate intrusions into the country through borders.
He made the statement while speaking to reporters on Sunday after a law and order meeting at the Secretariat, ahead of New Year's Eve and Christmas celebrations.
Addressing border tensions, the adviser said, “We are maintaining vigilance across the entire border—not just in Sylhet but also in Benapole and other areas—with Border Guard Bangladesh on high alert.”
Regarding the upcoming visit of the Indian Secretary to the Ministry of External Affairs to Bangladesh, the adviser stated, "The secretary is coming, and there will be discussions at the secretary level."
When asked whether the visit would help restore stability in bilateral relations, the adviser said, "When you visit someone’s house, the relationship naturally improves a little, doesn’t it? That’s normal."
