A fresh batch of 85 Bangladeshi expatriates has returned home from war-torn Lebanon, marking another milestone in the government’s ongoing repatriation efforts.
The group arrived at Dhaka's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 7:21 am on Friday (Dec 13) aboard Ethiopian Airlines flight ET-0680.
This brings the total number of Bangladeshis repatriated from Lebanon to 1,048, with 16 flights having successfully brought citizens back to the country.
The repatriation process was fully funded by the Bangladeshi government. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in collaboration with the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment, the Bangladesh Embassy in Beirut, and the International Organization for Migration (IOM), coordinated the operation.
Representatives from the ministries and the IOM were present at the airport to welcome the returnees. To ease their reintegration, each returnee was given Tk 5,000 as pocket money, along with essential food items and basic medical assistance.
