Helal Hafiz, one of Bangladesh's renowned poets, has passed away at the age of 76.

This poet was known for his timeless poetry, his works have left an indelible mark on Bengali literature.

It is known that he passed away in the hostel where he lived in Shahbagh. 

Later, he was taken to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital.

Confirming the matter, journalist Imran Mahfuz, close to the poet, wrote in a Facebook post, "Poet Helal Hafiz is no more. I am confirming this from the doctor at 2:30 pm from the hospital."

Helal Hafiz was suffering from glaucoma for a long time. 

He was also suffering from kidney complications, diabetes and nerve complications.
