DHAKA: Members of Rapid Action Battalion and police, in separate drives on Friday night, held nine suspected militants from Kalabagan and Uttara in the city.
Acting on secret information, a team of Criminal Investigation Department (CID), in association with Kalabagan Police Station, raided a house in Kalabagan and held four members of banned Islamist outfit ‘Hijbut Tahrir’.
“During the raid, the law enforcers also recovered some jihadi books, CDs and leaflets, from the scene,” a police officer of Kalabagan thana told banglanews24.com.bd, on condition of anonymity.
The arrested are Nasiruddin Majumder, 24, Rakibuddin Ahmed, 35, Nurul Molla, 24, and Sheikh Omar Sharif, 30.
Officer-in-Charge of Kalabagan police station Ataur Rahman filed a case in this regard.
On the other hand, RAB-1 personnel arrested five suspected militants of another banned Islamist outfit form separate places in Uttara.
The RAB members, however, denied giving further information in this regard.
