DHAKA: The government has appointed Muhammad Ali Sarker as the Ambassador of Bangladesh to Netherlands.
A Director General of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Muhammad belongs to the 1986 batch of BCS (Foreign Affairs) Cadre. He joined the service in 1989, said a press release of Foreign Ministry on Sunday.
He served in the Permanent Mission to New York and Bangladesh Embassy in Brussels.
Specializing in the multilateral diplomacy, he was a representative of the Government to all UN General Assembly sessions since 1995 to 2008. He had been the lead negotiator on behalf of the Least Developed Countries (LDCs) for the 3rd UN Conference on LDCs.
