DHAKA: A Court on Wednesday sent BNP Vice-chairman Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury to jail after a day in remand for torching vehicles during the June 27 hartal.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Ali Hossain passed the order when police produced him before the court.
The court also directed the authorities concerned to ensure proper treatment of Chowdhury as per jail code.
Earlier, the acting Metropolitan Sessions Judge Ismail Hossain rejected his bail petition.
He was shown arrest in a case with Ramna Thana for torching vehicles at Moghbazar.
Police arrested him on July 27 in a case with Gulshan Thana for obstructing police duties, vandalizing vehicles and making attempt to murder police personnel by strangulating.
