Dhaka: Three people were shot and chopped with knives by roving armed extortionists at Senpara Parbata of Kafrul in the city on Saturday morning, amid a latest spurt in the incidence of crime.
Witnesses said a gang of 3 miscreants was looking for the contractor of an under-construction project of Spile Development Company at around 7:00am. An altercation occurred between the goons and security guard Abdul Wahab of the company.
“At one stage of the altercation, they shot Wahab in the leg,” says a firsthand report. Locals sent him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Much the same time and in the same area, ¾ miscreants were searching for officials of another construction project, Suncity Development Ltd. Failing to get them, the gang of gunmen shot Uzzal Hossain, 20, a worker of the project, and stabbed randomly another worker, Anju.
Locals sent them to Al-Helal Hospital, Mirpur. Later, they were shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for better treatment. Duty doctors said Anju was in “critical condition”.
