Election by December if more reforms not needed: Press Secretary

Chief Adviser's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam said that elections would take place by December this year if political parties oppose additional reforms.

He said, "If the political party thinks that the interim government should make some reforms, then the government will take another six months."

Shafiqul Alam was speaking at a program held at the Krishibid Institution in the capital on Tuesday afternoon (January 7).

He also expressed optimism that discussions with all stakeholders would result in a fair and credible election.

The Press Secretary also said that six commissions formed to address reforms in various sectors of the state are expected to submit their reports by January 15, with decisions to be made following comprehensive discussions.

Individuals involved in corruption, looting, or the July-August massacre should not have the right to engage in politics, he said.

He, however, said that the government is not considering the 'minus two formula.'
