A Dhaka court today (Jan 8) ordered the seizure of tax records belonging to Zeeshan Mirza, wife of former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed, and their younger daughter, Tahseen Raisa Binte Benazir.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Zakir Hossain Galib issued the order in response to separate petitions filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
According to the ACC's petitions, Zeeshan Mirza allegedly concealed assets worth over Tk 160 million and accumulated properties beyond her known income sources, amounting to over Tk 316 million. It was claimed that Benazir Ahmed used his position to assist in these illegal activities.
Similarly, the ACC alleged that Tahseen Raisa amassed properties worth Tk 55 million through unlawful means, with her father’s involvement in facilitating these actions.
The ACC's investigation team, led by Deputy Director Muhammad Zainal Abedin, filed the petitions seeking the seizure of relevant tax documents to further probe the alleged corruption.
