A plenary session on Child and Millennium Development Goals (MDG) will be held at the high-level evaluation meeting on ‘MDG achievements’ scheduled for September 20-22 at the UN Headquarters in New York.
“Child and MDG issues would get special preference in the special session of the September meeting,” Bangladesh Permanent Representative to the UN AK Abdul Momen said.
The plan was announced while he was chairing the first board meeting of UNICEF, after the recent election, at the UN Headquarters Tuesday, according to a message received here Wednesday.
The meting reviewed various ongoing projects in different countries, including field-level reports from China, Rwanda and Tajikistan.
Dr. Anthony Lake, Executive Director of the UNICEF Executive Board, presented the annual report on various development programs, achievements and midterm projects of 2009.
Bangladesh has been elected member of the UNICEF Executive Board for the 2010-12 tenure. The Bangladesh Permanent Representative to the UN will represent the country ex-officio on the Executive Board of UNICEF.
