The United States and Bangladesh will jointly work in a humanitarian cooperation codenamed Operation Pacific Angel 2010 in mid-June in the western part of the country, official sources said.
Over 40 members of the US Air Force, Army and Navy will join the effort to provide general medical care and engineering support for local residents.
Medical support includes primary healthcare, women’s health, dental and optometry clinics apart from experience sharing on neonatology and hospital administration.
As part of engineering exercises, plumbing, electrical and structural work on two local schools will take place.
“Operation Pacific Angel is a joint and combined humanitarian assistance operation conducted in the Pacific area of responsibility to support U.S. Pacific Command’s capacity-building efforts,” the US Embassy in Dhaka said in a statement.
