Faridpur: At least seven leaders and activists of the beleaguered Jamaat-e-Islami were injured as police charged baton to disperse their procession in the district town Sunday.
Witnesses said the Jamaat activists brought out a procession from Chwakbazar Jam-e-masjid at about 9am. As the procession reached near Fire Service Office, police intercepted, triggering an altercation.
At one stage, police used truncheons on the demo, leaving seven Jamaat leaders and activists injured.
However, police did not arrest anyone as the demonstrators left the place after the beatings.
