NOAKHALI: Hatia has gone dark for last three days with the electricity supply cut off for an uncertain period in the backwater island upazilla.

Residential engineer of Hatia power center Rafiq Uddin told banglanews24.com.bd, “All the six generators that supply electricity to Hatia have gone out of order. So there is no electricity in the upazila.”

The authorities concerned have been informed about the blackout, he said.

On the contrary, consumers alleged that the resident engineer, Rafiq Uddin, misappropriates 50/60 (crosscheck it) thousand liters of fuel oil per month, out of the fuel allocated for the power center. For this pilferage, the upazila is facing acute electricity problem, they said.

Engineer Rafiq denied the allegation.
