BARISAL: A trader was run over by a bus on the Dhaka-Barisal Highway at Kashipur here at dawn Thursday.

The deceased was identified as Malek Howlader, 55, a laundry businessman.

Family sources said a speeding bus knocked down Malek at about 5:30 near the Ansar-VDP Office while heading towards his shop after offering Fazr prayers.

Airport thana OC Anwar Hossain said the body was handed over to his family members without performing autopsy “due to their appeal”.
