COX’S BAZAR: The biennial council of district Chhatra League could not be held on Thursday night due to a clash between two factions of the unit.
The clash started at about 9:30pm just before the inauguration of the council at the District Cultural Center. Both groups locked into a clash and chased each others, creating a chaotic situation.
But, there was no report of injury.
The law enforcers brought the situation under control at around 12:30 am Friday.
A number of BCL leaders, wishing anonymity, told banglanews24.com.bd that the clash ensued at around 9:39pm. Later sporadic clashes and chase and counter chase also took place.
At one stage, when police tried to take five central leaders out of the center for their safety at about 11:30pm, some unruly BCL activists stayed outside fired blank shots, leaving some 300 leaders and activists confined inside.

Banglanews24.com.bd correspondent could not contact Nurul Azim Konok, president of District Chhatra League, for his comment in this regard while GS MA Manjur denied to make any comment
Police super Nibas Chandra Majhi said that the situation is now under control. And he denied the incident of firing blank shots.
