DHAKA: BNP leader and Dhaka City Corporation Mayor Sadek Hossain Khoka said the opposition called Sunday’s dawn-to-dusk hartal to send in a warning for the government, not for toppling it.
“A strong movement will be waged in future if the government does not take any lesson from the strike,” he said while leading pickets in Kaptan Bazar area of the city to drum up the general strike.
“The government has failed to control law-and-order situation of the country. Tender manipulation is happening everywhere,” he added.
He also claimed that people of the country are observing the strike spontaneously.
The senior BNP leader and also ex-minister flayed the Awami League government for arresting BNP activists all over the country, including two female ward commissioners of Kaptan Bazar, over the hartal issue.
