DHAKA: The ruling Banglaladesh Awami Leage is soon to take to street against any evil activity of Jamaat-e-Islami for the relase of their top leaders, said Mahbub-ul Alam Hanif, party Joint Secretary and special assistant to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
He made the observations while talking to banglanews24.com.bd on Thursday evening, against the backdrop of backlash against the arrest of three top leaders of the Islamic party.
Hanif said, “We believe in democracy and we are respectful to the law. But arrested jamaat leaders continuously disregarded the law of the land, the verdict of courts.”
He noted that there are specific allegations against the Jamaat leaders and the court put them on remand on that basis.
“Any ill effort of Jamaat will be strongly resisted,” the ruling-party leader warned.
Hanif said Awami League leaders and workers would be in the street with proper programmes to protect the law of the land and ensure proper judgement aganist the accused Jamaat leaders.
“It is the people of the country who want a fair trial of war criminals and the present government will ensure that,” he said.
