DHAKA: Three top-brass leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami, arrested Tuesday for allegedly hurting religious sentiment of people, were produced in Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court under strict security on Wednesday morning.

Jamaat Ameer Moulana Matiur Rahman Nizami, Secretary-General Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujaheed and Nayab-e Ameer Delwar Hossain Sayedee were taken to the court at about 10.50am from the DB office at Minto Road.

A huge contingent of law-enforcers was deployed in the court area while the three Jamaat leaders—the first two former ministers-- were being escorted to the court.

“The law-enforcers put up a close watch on the court premises and every entrance. Police body-searched people coming to the court,” says a spot report.

Meanwhile, police Wednesday arrested 11 Jamaat-Shibir activists from the court area, in apprehension of outbreaks of unrest.

The top Islamic party leaders--Nizami, Mujaheed and Sayedee--were arrested on Tuesday evening, hours after an arrest warrant was issued against them in a case filed on charge of hurting Muslim religious sentiments.
