DHAKA: Detectives started quizzing Jamaat Ameer Matiur Rahman Nizami at about 8pm after taking him to the BD police headquarters Sunday in a case filed with Paltan Thana.
The case was filed against the top three leaders of Jamaat, including Nizami, accusing them of obstructing police from doing their duty ahead of the June 19 opposition grand rally in the capital.
Earlier, Jamaat Secretary-General Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mojahid and Nayab-e Ameer Delwar Hossain Sayedee were also interrogated under the BD custody of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
Earlier on Wednesday, police took the three top leaders of Jamaat on 16 days’ remand in five cases, a day after their arrest in a case of allegedly hurting Muslims’ religious sentiment.
