Businessmen know who extort how much: Obaidul Quader

DHAKA: Ruling Awami League`s presidium member Obaidul Quader MP Sunday apparently gave vent to deep frustrations over the performances of ministers.

“Those who could not attain skills in 18 months wouldn’t be able to attain in 18 years,” he said on an enigmatic note.

The former state minister came up with the observations at a discussion meeting at Dhaka Reporters` Unity. Bangabandhu Academy organized the discussion with its chief Hemayet Uddin in the chair.

He scoffed at the reported scathing remarks made by another top ruling-party leader and minister, Latif Siddiqui, on the role of journalists.

Quader said: "It was the journalists who played the main role following the 1/11 episode, not we - the politicians."

He underscored the need for having ‘common sense’ of the politicians in making comment.

Latif Saturday criticized media’s role in the current context of politics and after the 1/11 changeover.

Ishrafil Alam MP and Habibur Rahman Siraj also spoke.
