RUPGANJ, NARAYANGANJ: One was killed and 10 others were injured in a clash between Awami League and BNP supporters at Kanchan of Rupganj upazila centering municipality election.

The incident took place at Daroil vote center around 10:30am on Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Nirmal Datta. 

Eyewitnesses said two groups led by Awami League leader Mohan Member and Jubo Dal leader Jalal Mia locked into clash over supremacy in the polls.  

Police opened fire to bring the situation under control, leaving one dead and injured 10 others. 

Injured were taken to Dhaka and local hospitals and clinics.

However, Rupganj Thana officer-in-charge Asaduzzaman said he is not aware of the death incident. 

Voting in Kanchan municipality polls began at 8:00am and will continue till 4:00pm without any break.
