FENI: A Feni court on Monday summoned former Awami League lawmaker Zoinal Hazari, also the editor of the daily Hazarika Protidin, a Feni based local paper, in a defamation case.

District Judicial Magistrate, Khairul Amin, passed the order around 1:30pm.

Hafiz Ahmed, Public Prosecutor (PP) of Feni, confirmed the matter to banglanews.

He also said former counselor of Feni Municipality Kohinur Alam Rana filed a defamation case of Tk 50 lakh on Sunday complaining that Zoinal Hazari tried to sketch him as a 'murderer' of much talked-about Fulgazi Upazila chairman Ekram Murder.

Taking the complaint into cognizance, the District Judicial Magistrate Khairul Amin passed the order.

The magistrate also declared August 19 as the next date of the hearing.
